Study determines how much an average night out costs for an EDM fan
EDM fans the world over understand have the effect that rising ticket prices have on their wallet. But how much are we actually spending when we go see our favorite artists? Eventbrite breaks down the numbers.
The average event-goer spends $81 dollars a night and goes out at least twice a week. That’s $162 a weekend just spent on partying. The bulk of the expenditure? Your cost of admission. New York music fans get hit the hardest with the average price of admission at $34. Los Angeles and Chicago are two of the cheapest cities on the list, at $18 and $10 respectively.
The highest-spending per night goes to Chicago, who’s nightlife enthusiasts spend $90 on an average night on the town. At $44 dollars each, Atlanta takes first place for having the most costly tickets. Surprisingly enough, New York comes in 4th at a total of $82 per night. The numbers are staggering, especially when you consider that the most diehard EDM fans — those who attend events 2-3 times a week — are spending close to $1000 a month just to get their fix. Throw in a festival or two and your dance music obsession has officially become a serious financial burden.
