San Francisco’s up-and-coming force, Andrew Luce, is carving out his own niche of futuristic trap-inspired productions, fine tuning his distinctly fresh sound one release at a time. Having already proven his pension for remixing hip-hop and R&B cuts into his own progressive form of bass music, Luce steps up with an original production, “Blanc,” highlighting the young Bay Area-bred DJ’s keen production acumen.
“Blanc” blends chillwave and trap elements with wiry ambient melodies, complete with two bubbly, loud breaks riddled with sharp hip-hop samples. “Blanc” is gated and over-filtered in all the right places around tight hi-hat rolls and thumping drum rhythms. Inspired by the sounds popularized by the likes of Flume and Kaytranada, Luce takes the trap music framework to a more creative space with his latest original production.
