Ascio is the side project of Lucio Morais, who made crisp indie dance, disco, electropop, and more as one half of Database. On his second solo single, Morais teams up with Australian singer San Mei to craft an unbelievably soothing house track. The song, titled “Heart Hides,” pairs a soft, comforting instrumental with tender vocals, yielding a final product that’s equal parts cautious and beautiful. And though it’s stylistically different than anything in the Database catalogue, it certainly has the precision and infectiousness so beloved by the Brazilian duo’s fans. “Heart Hides” may have a charmingly sleepy vibe, but it’s not a track you’ll want to sleep on.
