After starting his career releasing instrumental tracks, Baauer has begun collaborating with some of the brightest new stars in the rap world. Last fall he teamed up with Rae Sremmurd on the AlunaGeorge-assisted “One Touch,” and yesterday he released a track with Fetty Wap, whose “Trap Queen” has been one of the hottest songs of the past few months. On new track “Promises,” Baauer and Dubbel Dutch craft a fierce instrumental with thick horns, crisp percussion, and a twinkling melody. Fetty Wap’s vocals match their beat perfectly: he sings softly at times, aggressively at others, and emotionally throughout. Baauer, Dubbel Dutch, and Fetty Wap are all immensely talented, rising stars, and “Promises” features each of them at their best and working seamlessly together.
