Jamie xx’s contemporary ballet, ‘Tree of Codes,’ is coming to New York in September
In the same vein as Fedde le Grand’s first-ever dance music ballet, Jamie xx is also working towards further integrating music with the performing arts. “Tree of Codes,” an artistic collaboration between choreographer Wayne McGregor, artist Olafur Eliasson and Jamie xx, is a contemporary ballet inspired by Jonathan Safran Foer’s novel, Tree of Codes. A work in progress for two years, the performance will “brilliantly hover between words and spaces, surfaces and layers, pasts and futures.”
Having composed the score for “Tree of Codes,” Jamie xx may be speaking to the larger issue of exploring electronic music through unlikely mediums such as dance. Scheduled to take place at New York’s Park Avenue Armory from September 14-21, tickets will go on sale to the public May 11th. Click here to learn more about the event.
