Summer COCO: IMIURU – The Grandma (Original Mix)

This is NOT your typical Coco “remix”. Junior Sanchez, under new guise IMIURU (said I AM I YOU ARE YOU), has completely re-energized and re-contextualized the ubiquitous party anthem into a stomping funky house burner aimed squarely at summer dancefloors. This year’s recent Winter Music Conference proved to be the testing grounds for the track and A-SIDED label boss Jesse Rose said, “By the time Miami was over, I knew we had something big on our hands and promptly announced to everyone in the A-SIDED office this had to be the next release. It normally takes a couple of months to get something out but this one is as fresh as it gets.”

The track starts off with sultry female vocals before a jackin’ four-to-the-floor beat drops in and takes the listener on a four-minute ride through irresistible grooviness. Some of the lyrics to the original song have been retained, but it’s the slamming house beat and re-recorded female vocals that are going to make this one a fixture in DJ sets for the foreseeable future. “The Grandma” is the second release from Jesse Rose’s new imprint A-SIDED, the follow up to the massive “Bare Mountain” by Rose and close friend Claude VonStroke.
