Usher is no stranger to the electronic dance ranks – everyone from Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, Disclosure, Diplo and more recently, Martin Garrix have successfully dragged the R&B legend past the commercial dance floors. Dutch newcomer Arman Cekin is playing on the crooner’s subtle club manoeuvres by revisiting one of his heyday moments, giving ‘Yeah’ the future trap treatment no one asked for, but few are shrugging at.
Smooth melodic textures and on-point beat work cement a high calibre first from the relatively unknown contender, striking a fine balance between the originals infectious hooks and the current appetite for trap with a future twist. It takes real balls to revisit legacy pop tracks, but Arman Cekin’s gusto has us excited to hear the next steps of this unprecedented prospect from The Netherlands.
