7 things we learned from The Chainsmokers’ Reddit AMA
The Chainsmokers don’t always get the credit they deserve for making it to where they are today. For better or worse, the duo found their way into the mainstream spotlight thanks to their satirical hit “#SELFIE.” Before their vanity-inducing single was ever a national craze, however, the duo could be found making blog-friendly house remixes of indie acts. Now, Alex and Drew look to re-establish their identity in the wake of the “#SELFIE” era.
To promote their new song “Good Intentions,” The Chainsmokers have taken to Reddit for an AMA, or Ask Me Anything. While it’s easy for artists to come on Reddit and plug their product, answer a few questions and then dip out, Alex and Drew manage to actually stick around and answer a great deal of questions. We’ve collected some of our favorite responses below.
They were planning on making a follow-up to “#SELFIE” before realizing it was a terrible idea.
For the first time ever, they sang on their own song — and it’s not EDM.
They plan to release a new single every month.
They once caused $15k in damages to their hotel room at an after party with Dillon Francis, 3LAU and more.
They’re in the crack game.
They’re still recovering from their infamous American Idol performance.
They’ll be leaving SoundCloud soon.
