DA Premiere: Grum – U (Original Mix)
UK up-and-comer Grum made a series of valiant leaps over a short space of time. With an Essential Mix under his belt, rigorous tour duties for Above & Beyond and a label-hopping run of high-calibre tunes, his graduation to the ranks of Anjunabeats was only a matter of time. For his first strike under the label’s wing, the man lesser-known-as Graeme Shepherd debuts with three well-oiled original cuts, but takes a notably softer approach on the EP’s lead offering.
“U” marks a tempered yet impactful addition to the UK prospect’s studio artillery, pairing strong melodic textures with an uplifting progressive edge throughout. It’s a far more traditional shade of Grum than we’ve seen more recently, but this more gentle take on the highly evolved producer’s sound suggests that the shallow waters of progressive house talent have another contender in it for the longterm.
