Dada Life’s Olle Corneer ditches EDM for IDM with Night Gestalt side project
Olle Corneer’s experimental side project, Night Gestalt, is a far cry away from the champagne and bananas hijinx that made him famous as one half of Dada Life. His new alter ego is far more IDM than EDM and the project’s lead single “The Death of SHE” is drenched in buzzing electronica instead of bubbly champagne. This isn’t just one track to test the waters, Corneer has an entire album’s worth of music he plans to release — a decision he made following his diagnosis with cancer back in 2014. Many of the tracks on the forthcoming Night Gestalt album, One, were written a few years ago in a cottage in Sweden but kept under wraps until now. Its lead single features his own vocals and industrial IDM influences (think Aphex Twin but just a bit friendlier) that are nearly unidentifiable as the same guy who’s behind “Kick Out the Epic Motherfucker.”
