Jean-Michel Jarre and M83 – Glory

Jean-Michel Jarre – the French musician that helped pioneer electronic music – just released “Glory,” a collaboration with M83‘s Anthony Gonzalez. In a press release quoted by Pitchfork, Gonzalez reminisced about watching Jarre on TV as a child: “He was playing with his synths and I was blown away with the sound and the look of his synthesizers … It looked so futuristic to me, I was just hooked by the melodies and the power of his music right away.”

“Glory” is the first track to pop up from Jarre’s fist album since 2007’s Téo & Téa. It’s a beautiful song with brooding synths, longing vocals, and crisp drums. It starts slowly, building patiently into a triumphant cry.

The thus far untitled record will be out later this year via Columbia Records and will feature collaborations with Gesaffelstein, Massive Attack, and Tangerine Dream. “Glory” is out now via Music Affair Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment.
