Watch this Detroit cop hype the crowd at Movement Festival

From Orwellian searches, to drug-sniffing dogs, law enforcement and your average festivalgoer rarely see eye-to-eye, but in Detroit, a city ravaged by economic crisis, the cops and the community embrace – rather than discriminate against – the incoming festival population and their city’s rich history of electronic music. This past weekend, those at Hudson Mohawke’s set on the Red Bull Stage saw that sense of community in action when an on-duty officer took center stage to hype up the crowd. The Detroit Free Press captured Officer Frederick Youngblood waving his arms and encouraging the crowd to move during Hudson Mohwake’s set.

They caught up with the dance-crazed cop after his cameo and he had this to say;
“It was just to let the crowd know we support them and love them. And they love us too, it’s a great thing when the community and the police come together.” We wish all festival security felt the same way.
