Los Angeles bass highbrow, Hoodboi, began his musical trials in Jersey club territory before broadening his horizons into producing anything with a pulsating 808 behind it. Returning hot from the release of his Palm Reader EP on Fools Gold, the Athletixx collective member puts his hand to the remix duty of ASTR’s house heater, “Activate Me.” An erratic composition of glittering chimes, thundering claps, and roaring bass waves, Hoodboi presents a grade-A example of organized musical chaos at its best.
