DA Premiere: Bag Raiders – Vapour Trails
Five years after the release of their breathtaking debut album, Bag Raiders are putting the finishing touches on their sophomore effort. The Los Angeles-based Aussies haven’t yet determined the release date for their second record, but they’re planning to drop an EP called Waterfalls at the end of the summer.
We’ve been desperately waiting for a new Bag Raiders album, so we’re absolutely thrilled to bring you “Vapour Trails,” the first single off of Waterfalls. On the track – which will be available soon as a free download through the band’s website – the duo combine the playful percussion of “Nairobi” and “Snake Charmer,” the tender vocals of “So Demanding,” and the intense emotion of “Shooting Stars” to create a song that — while still undeniably theirs — feels slightly different than anything on the Bag Raiders LP. When they began dreaming up the track two years ago in Paris, Jack and Chris aimed to craft a song that was “high emotion over high energy, feelings over fist-pumps.” Mission accomplished: “Vapour Trails” is elegant, dramatic, and inspiring. In other words, it’s well worth the agonizing five-year wait.
