This jet airliner has been modified into a fully functional midi instrument
This isn’t something you see everyday. As part of the Polytech Festival in Moscow, a small group of performance artists converted a Yakovlev Yak-42 jet airliner into a fully-functional midi instrument. Devised by the Playtronica collective, the piece uses the “play anything” sensor-to-music interface designed by Mogees to achieve the unique feat. Sensors are placed on numerous sections of the plane allowing it to be “played” simply by converting the vibrations from a touch into sounds on the fly. Accompanied by vocalist Jekka, this is the first duet in history between a jet airliner and a human — a novel experiment but probably not something you’ll see at a festival anytime soon.
