Amazon Prime Music’s streaming service expands to the UK

Amazon has launched its Prime Music service in the UK, the first market outside of the US where the service is available. Prime Music will be a bundled feature with Amazon’s annual prime subscription, which costs about $100 yearly. Prime subscription also includes access to Amazon instant video (as a potential alternative to Netflix), free two-day shipping for many products, and unlimited photo storage in Amazon’s cloud service.

Amazon Prime Music hasn’t made too much of a splash stateside – it offers about 1 million free tracks, while competitors like Apple Music and Spotify offer more than twenty-five times that in their services. However, Prime Music has some big names and similar features like ‘Prime Playlists,’ so for users who aren’t looking for an unlimited streaming library but are looking for a deal in conjunction with something they use frequently, like Amazon’s two-day shipping, Prime Music may offer an attractive solution. Prime Music users can also stream directly from their own library with a cloud or local device.
