Slaptop’s funk-fueled house made an impression on Episode 138 of AXIS showcasing a handful of infectiously groovy cuts designed for switchfooted shuffling.  The Bay Area producer follows up his no nonsense hit “Away” with a dancefloor-focused remix of Conrad Sewell’s “Hold Me Up.” While his originals are decisively indie dance, his latest effort evokes nostalgia for powerful 90s vocals and new age bass lines. A modern spin on the classic house records of yore, Slaptop leans into the nu-deep sound with just the right amount of “Streets of Rage” synthwork.
