With all this talk of Disclosure‘s impending sophomore album Caracal, an awe-inspiring list of collaborators and recent remix duties from Julio Bashmore, it’s hard to wonder how any more heat could be given to the duo’s Gregory Porter-assisted lead single ‘Holding On.’ Hot London prospect Melé’s answer is a relatively simple one: strip back the original to Porter’s soulful vocal core and inject the crossover moment with an intense percussive backbone.

Landing off the back of latest original ‘Ambience’ and more recent remix duties for RL Grime’s ‘Kingpin,’ Melé’s less-is-more production values hit home in a big way for this latest high profile remix. There is no hint of the instant gratification that Disclosure’s initial album single commanded in its original form, but as the track ascends through an epic crescendo of carnival-esque drum work, it becomes clear that Melé’s beat-savvy agenda is becoming more integral to the modern circuit with every new production.
