Maceo Plex announces new album ‘Solar’

Since debuting his Maceo Plex project on Crosstown Rebels back in 2011, Eric Estornel has turned the alias into one of the most recognizable names of the underground. His discography has taken him everywhere from Drumcode, to Kompakt, to Minus — not to mention his own imprint Ellum — while he’s been in constant demand on the international touring circuit. Following his debut album Life Index from 2011, Maceo Plex has announced his sophomore release: Solar. The album will be out in October, but will be preceded by a 12″ on Ellum containing new singles “Wash Away My Tears” and “Solar Detroit.” Maceo said of the new sampler: “This release is some music taken from my upcoming album Solar, named after our newborn baby of the same name. It is due out in October. ‘Wash Away My Tears (12 inch mix)’ is a more DJ friendly version of the original on the album. ‘Solar Detroit’ was written when I took little baby Solar to Detroit in May.” The Solar Sampler will arrive on July 27.
