Martin Garrix debuts surprising remix of The Weeknd at Digital Dreams

Still soaring up the Billboard Hot 100, The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face” is one of the summer’s hottest record. With his soft yet powerful vocals accompanied an upbeat, funk-infused instrumental, dance fans can’t help but think that the pop hit is just asking to get remixed. At Toronto’s Digital Dream Festival this past weekend, Martin Garrix debuted a brand new remix of “Can’t Feel My Face.”

Once The Weeknd’s heightening lines make their way onto the speakers, many anticipate the Dutch superstar to unleash one of his anthemic big room drops, but he surprises us by taking a left turn into the future house pool. The remix still feels at home on the grandiose stage, but Garrix substitutes blaring synths and howling horns for a ground-shaking bass pluck and groovy undercurrent to keep the crowd’s palette fresh throughout his set. No details about the remix have yet to come about, but keep your eyes peeled for when this power combination will see its release.
