Meek Mill & Drake – R.I.C.O. (XVII Remix)
This week was a tumultuously dramatic week in the hip-hop world. As it goes, Meek Mill called out Drake for enlisting the help of ghostwriters, and the entire internet went bonkers as if that was the first time hip-hop had ever heard the term. Fans were calling sides left and right as the dusty old ghostwriter debate got a few minutes in the sun this week. It was either Drake or Mill, and everyone was mighty quick to overlook the fact that the pair of hip-hop giants have a knack for making hits together. So while keyboard warriors clamored over each other’s status updates, XVII came to bury the hatchet with a nasty new remix.
Taking on Meek Mill and Drake’s “R.I.C.O.,” the up-and-coming Canadian producer procures a stomping house-tempo trap cut, lacing the rap stars’ lyrical clips with his own futuristic treatment. XVII’s remix is a festival-primed hybrid hype monster, available free of charge, and who knows? It may just remind Drake and Meek that this argument is pretty silly and they should go back to putting out haymakers together.
