Odesza’s ‘Say My Name’ is featured in Microsoft’s latest commercial
Electronic music has a growing history of being placed in television commercials. Absolut enlisted “Greyhound”, Doritos – “Express Yourself,” Kia – “In My Mind,” and Victoria’s Secret – “Midnight City,” to name a few. 2015 may be dance’s standout year, as A-Trak, Milo & Otis, Steve Aoki, Bassnectar, DJ Snake, Jeff Bridges, and Avicii each had songs featured in February’s Super Bowl ads.
Microsoft’s Windows 10 music video is not a television commercial, but incorporates Odesza as a promotional tool for the operating system set to launch this evening. For once, electronic music has not been applied to make a car, snack, or fashion brand appear avant-garde but to instead pair the genre with a brand that hits close to home.
