SOPHIE and LIZ elevate electronic pop music in ‘When I Rule the World’

LIZ, visibly recognizable as Dillon Francis‘ love interest in “Masta Blasta (The Rebirth),” is Mad Decent’s Valley Girl turned pop princess. The LA native, audibly recognizable for her RnB and early ’00s inspired sound, teams up with PC Music’s SOPHIE to orchestrate a hit that pops like bubblegum.

In “When I Rule the World,” the London producer sets his signature futuristic dream-pop aesthetic as the backdrop to LIZ’s bratty but catchy, and overtly domineering, vocals. When these two unique artists combine forces, the result is a track that demonstrates how easily electronic music can capture a mainstream essence.

Who do we thank for this sweet collaboration? Most likely Diplo, the label head who signed LIZ years ago, and recently co-produced “Bitch I’m Madonna” with SOPHIE.
