Tidal hit with a $50 million lawsuit

The sinking ship that is Tidal seems to have received yet another devastating blow, this time arriving with a quaint $50 million price tag. The lawsuit revolves around Lil Wayne, who has been in conflict with his label Cash Money for a while now. Most recently, he gave Tidal the exclusive release of his album FWA (Free Weezy Album), but unfortunately, Cash Money still claims the rapper on their label.

Though Tidal claims the move was fully in the right since Lil Wayne’s contract was not exclusive, Cash Money is arguing back that the rapper never had the power to license his music according to his contract. Only time will tell if Jay-Z’s venture can survive this financial blow. In regards to the suit, Cash Money has referred to the streaming platform’s move as a “desperate and illegal attempt to save their struggling streaming service.”

Ouch.
