ZHU – Faded (Absence Remix)
Roughly one year ago, an unidentified artist by the name of ZHU took the dance world by storm with his first single, “Faded.” Though he’s produced multiple other singles since, the Grammy-nominated single is still causing a ripple effect of inspiration across the dance world one year later.
Stepping up to the plate among a remix roster that includes the likes of ODESZA, DJ Snake, Big Gigantic, and many more is Absence. The producer takes the original version back to its deep house roots, though aside from the vocal sample, everything has been completely re-worked. The underlying bassline is more emphasized, and progressive drum samples and other instrumentation like pianos and an electro synth melody are added to make Absence’s version a bit more modernized and funky than the original. The song reminds us of something we’d put on as a perfect background soundtrack to a long drive.
