Pirupa – Cristallo (Original Mix)
The inauguration of Crosstown Rebel’s sister-label, Rebellion, has ushered in a weird and wonderful musical chapter for the label and its global musical legacy. Landing off more recent strikes for both SNATCH! and INTEC, Italy’s Pirupa debuts on the imprint this month with a dialed back club cut with blissful results.
Held against the chugging techno etiquette of “Be With Me” or early summer cut “Bring Me Back,” the scratchy grooves and ascending melodic play of “Cristallo” speak for a separate and no-less sacred strand of the long-serving talent’s house mastery. There aren’t may artists who can flitter between more digestible tech house, middle ground techno and minimalistic house cuts so easily, but this lead Rebellion cut offers a poignant reminder as to why Pirupa remains one of Europe’s most underrated heavyweights of the decade.
