Berghain set to release a ‘Best Of’ compilation celebrating its 10th anniversary
Ten years ago, Berghain opened its doors in an abandoned Berlin power plant. Fast-forward to today, and the club has risen to prominence not only as one of the best clubs in Berlin, but also as one of the top techno clubs in the world. Through the enigmatic club, German imprint Ostgut Ton has used Berghain’s dancefloors and its club-goers to test-run its minimal techno catalog.
In celebration of the club and label’s 10-year anniversary, Ostgut Ton has announced the release of a “best of” compilation disc set to commemorate their influence over the Berlin techno scene. Each disc features three exclusive tracks along with unique artwork on each sleeve. It’s worth noting that each of the 30 tracks is new; the “best of” part of the compilation is meant to describe the forward-thinking music that fits in with their vision of techno’s future. “It’s an adult statement of the label’s status quo as well as a glimpse of what’s forthcoming – at the end of a decade, on the brink of the future,” said a representative from the label.
