CW purchases Steve Angello-produced dance music drama series, ‘The Drop’
In spite of We Are Your Friends’ severe flop at the box office, The CW strives to prove dance music’s rightful place on mainstream television. The network has since purchased The Drop, a drama set in none other than Miami, that follows a DJ who befriends an African-American female. Speaking to the larger issues of race and gender in the music industry, it is hopeful that the new series, directed by RJ Cutler and scripted by Kyle Jarrow, will see greater success than its NCIS:LA predecessor. Steve Angello has also been enlisted as an executive music producer.
