2014’s Junto marked a reassuring chapter from beloved UK dance titans Basement Jaxx. Where the duo’s seventh LP set a spotlight on how full-length electronic offerings could still be executed in an interesting way, the final quarter of 2015 sees Junto Remixed call upon some of the finest figures in global dance music to re-imagine its musical spoils. Landing off the heels of his third OWSLA/Big Beat offering ‘Drum Machine,’ proven British heavyweight Alex Metric steps in with a distinctly nostalgic take on the album single ‘Summer Dem.’ Rallying nostalgic house hallmarks and polished disco elements, his cut carries the backbone of a funk-infused club staple whilst channelling a cleaner sense of musicality throughout. We’ve seen many different sides to Alex Metric’s studio artillery over the years, but it’s reassuring to see that the UK contender is not dropping the ball where high-profile remix duties are concerned.
