DA Premiere: Justin Jay’s remix of Ulf Bonde’s ‘Blossom For Me’
Los Angeles-based deep house imprint Culprit has a knack for breaking top-notch underground talent. Their latest signing is Sweden’s Ulf Bonde, who, upon moving to LA for college, became roommates with Justin Jay. Now Bonde is making his artistic debut with a new EP on Culprit, and who better to remix the lead single than his former roommate?
“Blossom For Me” is a slow, hypnotic affair with a meditative patience to it. Justin Jay ups the tempo and adds a driving bassline on his remix, creating a more club-friendly, albeit deeply atmospheric, rendition. While Jay has famously made a name for himself on Claude VonStorke’s Dirtybird imprint, it’s worth noting he’s also been a Culprit artist since 2013, when he made his debut for the label with The Jaguar EP.
Ulf Bonde’s Culprit debut Blossom For Me will be released on September 28.
