Kendrick Lamar could be joining Disclosure and Sam Smith for an ‘Omen’ remix

Dancing Astronaut has learned that Kendrick Lamar will be joining Disclosure and Sam Smith for a new version of “Omen.” Kendrick’s remix will add star power to a collaboration already packing plenty of it; a three-headed monster connecting the world’s hottest rapper, singer and producers.

When artists write and record songs, they need to make sure to take care of their intellectual property. Therefore, artists register their works with music publishing databases that serve, among other purposes, to put ownership rights of said works to paper. Sometimes artists and labels jump the gun and register musical works publicly before release. Through one of these registries, BMI, Dancing Astronaut finds this massive collaboration en route.

Following the success of “Latch,” Disclosure invited Sam Smith back to the studio to work on a track for the duo’s latest release, Caracal. “Omen,” the result, in its original form marks one of the best productions on Disclosure’s sophomore album. “Omen” may not have reached its final form yet, though, as BMI reveals that Kendrick Lamar has hopped on the production, presumably for a forthcoming remix.
