Emanuel Satie – Your Body (Original Mix)
As if Defected Records hadn’t already earned their keep as one of the most successful British house imprints of all-time, the addition of their DFTD sub-label has seen the brand hold some of the freshest underground prospects to be found on club floors across the globe. It’s talents such as Berlin’s Emanuel Satie, among the plethora of international acts who now call the imprint home, who really hit home where Dunmore and co have found well-earned faith in the next generation of potential heavyweights.
Satie kick-started 2015 with DFTD debut ‘Cold Sweat,’ adding to a run of featured cuts on Defected’s seasonal compilation instalments and prior cuts for such national treasures as AVOTRE and Get Physical. ‘Your Body’ jacks and flows in all the right places, throwing dotted patches of weird and wonderful synth work and staggered sample hooks to compliment an otherwise perfect example of where the stripped-back approach can yield phenomenal results. It’s nice to find an instrumental record that simply begs to be played again and again, especially at a time when even the label’s are starting to question the value of digital music. You don’t need us to tell you about DFTD and Emanuel Satie’s mint for quality club tunes, but ‘Your Body’ certainly epitomizes it. Release Date: October 19
