‘We Are Your Friends’ soundtrack tops Billboard chart

Despite a historically bad theatrical run which only took in $1.8 million from 2,333 locations across the United States, the soundtrack to ‘We Are Your Friends’ has achieved solid success. Dethroning Jack Ü’s Justin Bieber-assisted reign at the top of Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Album chart, the soundtrack’s success can be attested to the genre-defying tracklist. Landing through Interscope Records, the compilation brings along music from Hook N Sling, Deorro, Gryffin, Tchami, and Kygo among a long list of electronic music’s stars. While the film has been one of the worst reviewed and biggest financial failures of the summer, a strong tracklist which features the genre’s rising stars can be attributed to the soundtrack’s chart-topping success.
