Sam Smith and Disclosure create the next Bond theme song, ‘Writing’s on the Wall’
The impeccable duo behind “Latch” and “Omen” have joined forces yet again to create the much anticipated new theme for the next installment of the James Bond series, Spectre. Despite fan speculation of Radiohead’s role for the new Bond theme, Sam Smith has swept the role and will soon deliver “Writing’s on the Wall,” slated to be released September 25. The project has been in the works since January, and Sam Smith explained on Radio 1 that he was relieved to finally be able to share the news, adding that it has been “a secret mission of [his] own.”
“This is one of the highlights of my career,” he shared. “I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line-up of some of my biggest musical inspirations.” Reportedly, Sam Smith wrote the song in a record 20 minutes. Disclosure and Jimmy Napes have announced their own involvement in “Writing’s on the Wall” as well.
