From the NBA to EDM: Shaq teams with Kryoman to release first track as DJ Diesel
There’s not much Shaquille O’Neal can’t do. He’s won three NBA Finals MVP awards in his four championships, has gone platinum with a rap album as Shaq Diesel, became television’s face of products like Gold Bond and IcyHot, and has hit Hollywood, from laying a genie in 1996’s Kazaam to doing voiceover work in last year’s The Lego Movie. The saga of one of the world’s most versatile stars just wouldn’t be complete without — you guessed it — a DJ career.
Going by DJ Diesel, an extension of Shaq Diesel (under which he released four rap albums), the former basketball star is taking to dance music. From the NBA to EDM, Shaq prepares to DJ live at this weekend’s TomorrowWorld, just in time for his first ever release. A collaboration between Kryoman and DJ Diesel results in “My Squad’s Lit” — a trap production with Shaq’s familiar and provocative tone as vocal bits.
