Steve Angello unveils ‘Children of the Wild’ music video, announces debut album’s release date

A lot of us thought the world might end once Swedish House Mafia broke up. Playing their final show in Miami to cap Ultra that year, many wondered how this would change the dance music landscape moving forward. Of course, a few short years later, all that commotion is a distant memory as we find the former mafia men carving out their next notches of success. Steve Angello has taken his solo career back in stride, focusing on his label, a full-length record, and moving away from chasing poppy radio jams to focus on his own artistic aspirations. His anthemic “Children of the Wild” may be the best representation of Steve Angello post-SHM, and now we have the visuals to accompany the long-awaited single.

The Size Records founder, along with French filmmaker Guillaume Panariello, put together a piece to reflect his vision behind the song as the new music video cruises through raucous action sequences at 100 frames per second. The video breaks down every motion and movement as sparks fly and fames reach out of trash cans and into the smoggy night sky, and most importantly, establishes the ethos for the rest of the record. It is somber in places, uplifting in others, pensive, thoughtful, and artistic. This isn’t main stage-primed larger-than-life house music. This is the new Steve Angello.

Along with the new music video for “Children of the Wild,” Steve has also nailed down a release date for his hotly-anticipated debut full-length record. Expect Wild Youth to land on November 20th, and with the album’s lead single already marked by a meticulous attention to artistic expression, expect Steve Angello’s debut to follow suit and express something special, beyond the confines of main stage house music.
