Uber is now available in Las Vegas

Uber is finally available in Las Vegas, the company announced on their website. It’s now possible to skip the taxi line on the strip, and low-cost uberX may even save you a few dollars in the process. UNLV to downtown Las Vegas is an estimated $13-$17, downtown to Summerlin or Henderson runs about $36-$52, and Summerlin to Henderson is estimated $63-$84.

Nevada senators Michael Roberson and Kelvin Atkinson took the inaugural rides in southern Nevada on September 14. Michael Roberson is Majority Leader of the Nevada Senate and was one of Uber’s greatest advocates. His support of the app was no doubt one of the driving forces that lead to its legalization. Senator Roberson stated

“I’ve always believed that embracing change is the best path to success. Uber’s technology will create opportunity and more transportation options for both Nevadans and visitors from all over the world, helping this city continue to grow.”

Though surge pricing may end up echoing Vegas price points, this will undoubtedly be a helpful option in Sin City.
