Watch Florence + The Machine smash their cover of ‘Where Are Ü Now’
Diplo and Skrillex demonstrated the potential of electronic music with the release of “Where Are Ü Now.” The infectious Jack Ü collaboration with Justin Bieber reached platinum and continues to dominate international airwaves.
Predictably, “Where Are Ü Now” has been re-worked many times over, in particular inspiring a small population of indie artists which include CHVRCHES and Pentatonix. Along with their high-profile counterparts, Florence + The Machine entered the fray with their incredible cover of the single on BBC’s Live Lounge. What follows in the above video is Florence’s stunning voice twisting the original into a relaxed, soulful ballad. Delicate instrumentation by the band allow the vocals to take center stage; an opposite effect than the original whose catchy rhythm and samples allowed it to gain so much attention.
