Aphex Twin and Jamie xx go head-to-head for 2015 Mercury Prize
Aphex Twin and Jamie xx are among twelve total candidates competing for the 2015 Mercury Prize – an annual music prize awarded for the best album from the UK and Ireland. The former has been nominated for Syro, his first album in 13 years, while the latter will be judged for his debut studio album, In Colour.
An album can be considered for the prize so long as it is released by a musician of British or Irish descent, or a band where more than 50% of its members are British or Irish. In the past, prolific electronic artists like Rudimental, Disclosure, James Blake, and Jon Hopkins have been nominated for the award, with Blake winning in 2013 for Overgrown. This year’s winner will be revealed on November 20th.
