Cuba to launch electronic music festival in 2016
A new festival called Manana will be coming to Santiago de Cuba next May. While there isn’t much yet by way of concrete details and confirmation, a Kickstarter campaign is currently underway to fund the non-profit festival, which will aim to connect “Afro-Cuban Folkloric music with the pioneers of the International Electronic music community.”
The Kickstarter introduction calls it “an inclusive and collaborative festival built on the deep love and mutual respect we all have for rhythm.” Confirmed acts so far include London dubstep producer and DJ Mala, electronic rumba outfit Grupo ÌFÉ, and the tropical Sofrito DJs. The first 50 Manana tickets are being sold for $129 each via Kickstarter. Here’s a quick look at a teaser video:
