Martin Garrix reigns supreme over Calvin Harris, Avicii at 2015 MTV EMAs
Martin Garrix and Skrillex, Diplo, and Justin Bieber have been awarded “Best Electronic Act” and “Best Collaboration” (for “Where Are Ü Now”) at the 2015 MTV EMAs, respectively. The 19-year-old producer, who also charted at #3 on DJ Mag’s Top 100 poll, beat out top-tier talent including Calvin Harris, Avicii, David Guetta, and Major Lazer. “Where Are Ü Now,” on the other hand, triumphed over “Hey Mama,” in addition to several other pop and hip-hop songs.
Having recently severed ties with Spinnin’ Records and MusicAllStars, it seems that Martin’s luminous career will only continue to prosper with time – with or without the label and management company that helped catapult him into the spotlight.
