Watch this microscopic video of a record being played under 1000x magnification
For those who enjoy nerding out about science in music, a video was recently released showing a record being played under 1000x magnification. When thinking about how a vinyl record player works, it’s incredible that a full album of songs can be pressed into grooves of an LP to be then played through a needle that runs through the uniquely formulated lanes. YouTube channel Applied Science decided to bring this image to life using an electron microscope to see the phenomenon up close and personal. If you’re looking to skip the technicalities behind the video’s creation, skip ahead to watch the end product at about four-and-a-half minutes.
