Adele’s ‘Hello’ sets all-time digital sales record for selling over 1 million copies in just one week

Powerhouse songstress Adele continues to smash records with her latest single “Hello,” selling over 1 million copies of her third album 25‘s lead single in just a week, making the track the best-selling digital record of all time and placing her single atop Billboard’s Hot 100. The 27-year-old superstar sold 1,112,000 copies in just seven days beating out Flo Rida’s previous record of 636,000 for 2009’s “Right Round.” In a time where even the most passionate of music fans rarely purchase music, Adele nearly doubled that record.

“Hello” also broke the streaming record with 61.6 million streams in a week, bested Taylor Swift’s 24-hour VEVO music video record for “Bad Blood” with 27.7 million views and became the second-fastest music video to hit 100 million YouTube views just behind Psy’s video for “Gentleman.”

If sales continue like they have for Adele, early projected sales for her album 25 may see the songbird sell between 1.3-1.8 million copies in its first week. 25 has already sold almost 250,000 pre-orders and is officially released on November 20.
