AC Slater has spent the better part of the year transforming his Night Bass brand into more than just a running Los Angeles dance party. 2015 brought the establishment of Night Bass Records, officially typifying the brooding, dark brand of funky bassline house that AC and his cohorts have mastered. Now the label is ready to drop its second compilation of the year, This Is Night Bass Vol. 2, led by another LA-based veteran. Gary Richards steps behind the Destructo guise for “Bodyback,” setting the collection’s tone with a plucky G-house original cut.
Destructo, purveyor of pineapples, takes it back to the basics on his latest. Serving up a sinister, slick house arrangement, the track rides cooling synth work, working in crisp claps over a simple sample selection. Offering a dance floor shaker that requires a little more elbow room than most, HARD‘s head honcho joins Night Bass with “Bodyback.”
