Hermitude feat. Xan Young – Eyes Closed (Original Mix)

Hermitude have been enjoying greater success and international notoriety as of late, partially thanks to their younger counterpart Flume bringing their expertise to light with his remix of “HyperParadise.” The duo’s newest album, Dark Night Sweet Light, featured a broad array of well-produced tracks that led to it reaching the top of Australian dance charts.

On October 30th, Hermitude delivered one of the more haunting pieces off their album “Eyes Closed” to international fans to promote their album’s February release in England. Poignant arpeggios flit around Xan Young’s ethereal vocals, remaining until a symphony of synths and woodwind samples take over to amplify the track’s pensive nature. Though we’re used to hearing bassier, more powerful outputs from the duo, “Eyes Closed” is a successful demonstration of their ability to craft a track that touches the listener in an equally powerful, yet more nuanced way. The third single off Dark Night Sweet Light, official remixes remain to be seen.
