Laidback Luke releases first full-length album in over a decade, ‘Focus’

There’s a reason why Laidback Luke has racked up a reputation for being a pioneer of progressive and electro house. The Filipino-Dutch DJ and producer has been an active member of the community for over two decades, and has since earned the status of label head, kung fu guru, author, and mentor. He is perhaps best known for timeless originals including “Show Me Love,” “Leave the World Behind,” and “Turbulence,” to name a few.

The last time Lucas van Scheppingen released a full-length project was 2002’s Electronic Satisfaction. What would typically be a deluxe album for most – one containing an impressive 17 tracks – is merely a standard album for Laidback Luke. Focus, the title of his newly unveiled work, is not only a testament to his passion as an artist, but a palpable display of his commitment to himself and his fans. Though it took 13 years for Focus to come to fruition, it’s this unwavering dedication that led to a “real” album that sees him “enjoying [his] producer time and making tracks that [he] would both love to listen to and dance to.”

Focus features wide-ranging collaborations with GTA, Benny Benassi, Yellow Claw, and D.O.D. – giving the album free rein in traversing both big room and minimal soundscapes. Stream the full album below.
