London Halloween party resulted in violent confrontation between ravers and local police

London’s underground rave scene found some ravers going head-to-head with local police this Halloween weekend when law enforcement showed up in full riot gear to prevent attendees of an illegal party called ‘Scumoween: A Nightmare on Scum Street’ from entering the venue.

According to witnesses, the police acted rather hostile when trying to bottleneck patrons away from the entrance of the building. The angered ravers retaliated by throwing anywheres from chairs and tables to propane tanks, fire extinguishers, and even a petrol bomb. Various videos of the Halloween debacle have surfaced all over the web documenting the confrontation that ended in 14 injured officers and eight people arrested.

Scum Tek, the promoters of the party, tried to ease the situation on Facebook when chaos ensued around midnight, urged people to keep making their way to the event in a peaceful manner. The quarrel ended around 6 AM on Sunday with many residents angered by the disturbance. Scum Tek followed up the next day with a statement on Facebook scorning all those that took part in the violent actions of the night saying:

“ALL WHO BROUGHT POSITIVITY, THANK YOU. ALL OF YOU, ON BOTH SIDES! WHO THINK THAT VANDALISM AND AGGRESSION IS THE WAY TO GO, ITS NOT.”

This unfortunate debacle comes just weeks after a 36-hour rave in Holborn, England continued to operate after police deemed it ‘too dangerous’ to shut down and the London police have opened an investigation into the affair.
