Rustie takes us back to the VHS days with music video for ‘First Mythz’
Earlier this month, Rustie‘s third full-length album, EVENIFUDONTBELIEVE, marked a divergence for the Scottish producer as he left the label-directed nature of his sophomore LP, Green Lantern, and returned back to his love of raw, future-sounding instrumentals. The first single to surface of the fifteen, neon-accented songs was “First Mythz,” which served as the first taste of where the Scottish producer would usher fans into the glitched-out world the album embodied. To further complement the tropical-bass nature of “First Mythz,” Rustie has released the track’s music video where director Daniel Swan shutters VHS clips from paradisiacal landscapes to the beat at hyper-speed. The music video invokes a combination of nostalgia and escapism, both of which have characterized the development of Rustie’s signature sound.
