Sander van Doorn & Pep & Rash – White Rabbit (Original Mix)

The obsession with flaunting IDs is something of a speciality of Spinnin’ Records. While ordinarily the move comes in the form of an obvious yet effective Oliver Heldens number or an obnoxious big room banger, “White Rabbit” had many scratching their heads for no other reason than it being an intriguing and heavily rotated track. Cue Pep & Rash, the label’s accomplished bright eyed house newcomers, who this month team up with recovered trance artist turned all-round festival plugger Sander van Doorn.

“White Rabbit” sounds more like the young duo’s handiwork than that of Doorn, who has spent the majority of 2015 leaping between sounds to yield relatively positive (though often mixed) results. Given that Jefferson Airplane fans are the least likely to warm to the so-called ‘future house’ sound, the track is more a nod to a younger generation of artists recognizing influence beyond the more common sampling of heyday hip-hop and North American house music. Past its punchy basslines and stubborn beats, “White Rabbit” is a fun track that sounds as the majority of 2015 did, leaving us wondering which buzz sound will be next to dominate the Dutch circuit come the New Year.
