Search for girl who jumped off of ship at Mad Decent Boat Party has been suspended

The US Coast Guard has suspended the search for Kaylyn Sommer, who leaped off of Mad Decent Boat Party close to 7pm on Thursday evening. Sommer, 24, reportedly jumped from the ship two days ago as she plummeted nearly 80 feet downward into the ocean – around 22 miles off the coast of Cuba. The search came to an end at 11am this morning after covering1,378 square nautical miles, and Kaylyn was nowhere to be found.

Capt. Todd Coggeshall, Incident Management Chief at the Coast Guard’s Seventh District commented, “Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the loved ones affected by this terrible tragedy. We are all sons and daughters, and many of our responders have young children themselves. Suspending search efforts is always a painful decision, particularly when it involves a young mother.”
